Coordinate up-regulation of TMEM97 and cholesterol biosynthesis genes in normal ovarian surface epithelial cells treated with progesterone: implications for pathogenesis of ovarian cancer

Cathy B Wilcox, Grace O Feddes, Joan E Willett-Brozick, Lih-Ching Hsu, Julie A DeLoia, Bora E Baysal BMC Cancer 2007, 7:223 (11 December 2007)

Progesterone induces potentially protective alterations in cholesterol and lipid metabolism in ovarian surface epithelial cells through coordinate up-regulation of cholesterol and lipid homeostasis genes as well as TMEM97, which encodes a transmembrane protein of unknown function.
